Roommate guide

How to manage shared expenses with roommates

A useful roommate expense system records purchases promptly, explains each person's share, and keeps repayments visible without requiring a shared bank account.

Keep one clear expense record

  1. Agree on what counts as shared. Decide which household purchases belong in the group record and which remain personal.
  2. Record each purchase promptly. Add the amount, payer, description, date, and currency while the details are easy to verify.
  3. Choose the right split. Equal shares are simple, but exact shares work better when only some roommates participated or used different amounts.
  4. Review balances regularly. A quick weekly review prevents old purchases from becoming a confusing pile of screenshots and messages.
  5. Settle using an external method. Roommates can choose cash, e-transfer, or another available payment method outside EasyDen.
  6. Record the repayment. Mark the settlement in the shared record and use confirmation or dispute tools when a repayment needs review.
  7. Resolve disagreements from the source record. Check the original payer, amount, participants, and shares before changing a balance.

EasyDen tracks expenses and repayments. It does not process payments, connect to bank accounts, hold funds, or provide banking services.
